Providing View-Only Access: Overview

What is View-Only Access?

When using our services at Salt & Main Accounting Co., we typically ask you to provide access to your checking, savings, credit card, and loan accounts. Most banks offer a view-only account feature within their online business banking portal. This feature allows you to add us as a user, granting us the ability to only view statements and check images.

Why does Salt & Main Accounting Co. ask for view only access to accounts?

We do not need the ability to process transactions within your online accounts. We only require the ability to view historical transactions, retrieve statements, and occasionally review a check image for more detail. View-only access enables us to quickly reconcile your accounts and access statements every month without having to request these details from you regularly.

Is this secure?

While having access to view your account statements and check images is a significant time saver for both parties, we also prioritize the security of your accounts. We take extreme measures to ensure our connection is secure and recognize the potential for fraudulent activities. By limiting our access to view-only, we ensure that your assets remain secure even in the unlikely event of fraud.

How do I set up View-Only Access for my Account Manager?

Each bank has a different process, and the best approach is to contact your local branch for assistance. They will guide you through the setup process. They may ask you to provide a username and password for your account manager to use, so please reach out to us directly before contacting your bank, as we can provide these details in advance.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your account manager at Salt & Main Accounting Co. has the necessary access to efficiently manage your accounts while maintaining the highest level of security.
